Saying goodbye

We had our cat put to sleep today. A difficult decision but the right one. He's been in heart failure since last August and has been in sharp decline in the last couple of weeks. Took DS age 6 with us to the vet and once we had chatted with her we explained he needed to say goodbye because moggy couldn't come home with us. He was very upset but has bounced back a bit, I hope it was the right decision to let him have his goodbye. DH took him out then and I stayed with my baby while he went to sleep. It was very calm and the vet was lovely.

Just wanted to share the story and a pic of my lovely boy who was with us 11 years.

A lovely boy. I'm very sorry.

And you know your DS best.

What a beautiful cat. So hard to make that decision, you have my sympathy.

As you said, the right decision, even though it was hard. Flowers He looks like a lovely boy.

I think you did good in letting your ds understand as much as possible and have the chance to say good bye. Sorry for you all - be kind to yourselves.

Sorry for the loss of your lovely boy Flowers. I have a horrible feeling we'll have to say goodbye to our girl in the next couple of years, my DD is also 6 and I have wondered how to deal with it, you have made me realise I would do the same.
Look after yourselves.

I am so sorry about your beautiful cat.

I think you did the right thing with your DS, he got to say goodbye. My parents did a similar thing when our cat had to be put to sleep. I was very unwell at the time so being able to say goodbye and understand why it was happening helped.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful cat. My wonderful boy passed away suddenly but not unexpectedly in the very early hours of Tuesday morning. He had hypertropic cardiomyopathy and was in heart failure. He was exactly 2 months short of his 6th birthday. Flowers
