I'm really worried about my cat :(

Just that really. One of my house cats isn't doing too well. Had ds 8 weeks ago, for the first couple of weeks she was really protective, then just hid herself away. She's lost a lot of weight and has been eating her cat litter. We took her to the vet who said on initial investigation he can't find anything wrong. We wormed her to rule that out. She's continued eatting the litter again and is so skinny. Got the vets tomorrow and I'm going to get a blood test organised. She is a lot brighter than she was but I'm still so worried

Sorry haven't got much advice, but the first thing I thought was could she be stressed about the baby?? My cats haven't been near babies so I don't know what they would usually react like.

Hopefully the vet will find out what's wrong, but in the meantime try warming her food up to tempt her. Also, try giving her warm tuna/other fish.

How old is she, Gipsy? And what kind of litter is it?

She's 6. I even bought a new tray to discourage her. I use the clumping clay. We've managed to get her eatting wet food for the past week.

It's the strangest thing, my other cat has always had 'issues' but is chilled AF with the baby.

Have you tried a feliway? I have a lady (Storm) that hid away and refused to eat. She had been out pottering in the garden and there was a police chase across all the back gardens, with police dogs and noise and she hid in an alleyway which the guy being chased by the police used to try and escape down. She was absolutely traumatised by this and I really thought we would lose her.

Anyway, feliway and isolating her in one room to recover (or a large dog cage maybe) with little bits of food and often might help. We gave Storm little bits of cooked chicken, those posh little cat food trays, tuna, tinned salmon. Always tiny bits, and plenty of water.

I'll give that a try. It's the eatting litter thats worrying me most

The litter eating sounds like pica, which can be stress induced - did the vet take bloods? Apparently anaemia can cause pica, and more specifically cat litter eating. See here: icatcare.org/advice/cat-health/anaemia-cats

Getting them done tomorrow

In the meantime, waiting for bloods, you could switch her litter to Worlds Best.

It's made of corn by-product, so will be less likely to cause a blockage than a clay-based litter.
