I'm demented. The cat is driving me to distraction.

He is a 7 year old half Panther. But feet, no brains. He was a rescue as a 5 week old kitten. (He was a foster cat that I couldn't let go of, I used to foster for CPL)

Has a total dependence on me to the point the neighbours think is hilarious.

I have a 15 month old baby who is is wonderful with. Never uses claws or teeth near him. I'm very careful to ensure they are monitored.

Female moggy again another rescue aged 10/11 possibly. She was very ill when I got her.

Anyhoo. I digress.

Sirius wanders about the house yowling until he finds me. Pathetic loud and abrasive.

I can't get him to stop. I have tried ignoring him. But at 2am when he comes in its a nightmare. If I lock the catflap to stop him coming in so I could get a long sleep, he will yowl outside ....

How do I stop this behaviour. I'm actually tired. I have tried ignoring him.... For quite long periods of time.

I now lob socks at him

He is likely over fed as every time my hub goes into the kitchen he yield for food.

He is a mouser. So often brings me gifts. I had a mole last week.

Please give me suggestions. I love him to bits. He is a soft sop but I'm exhausted .....

This may sound like a daft comment but - do you talk back to him?

PS - he does look just a little 'full-figured'. How much does he weigh?

I lock mine in the utility room overnight and put earplugs in.

So cute the picture of your ds and Panther! ...sorry not helping. I have a cat that rounds us up and follows us if we go for a walk, have to get her in before leaving the house if walking anywhere! And she runs back when she sees the car..she has a cat flap!

He is about 5kg. Vet seen him and said he is muscles. He is a very very large cat. He does look rather fat but he is honestly sleek.

He gets 4 wet pouches a day. A handful of biscuits. And he mouses. I have no idea of neighbours feed him. I know my female goes to neighbours two doors down for peace. She sleeps there through the day.

Think the baby might be too noisy.

Yes I do talk to him. I talk to both my cats. The female makes eye contact and purrs then goes two doors down. He won't go to others houses. He is very shy.

I do wander about muttering shut up Sirius a bit more than I used too.

When I come into a room he turns his chin to me and does a gentle miaow.

If o don't pet him he wanders about looking pathetic and yowls more.

I have made a rod for my own back. Haven't i????

I used to foster aggressive adult cats and turn them around. Urghhhh I'm pathetic.

He's absolutely gorgeous : ) Send him on a plane to Ireland and he can come and talk to me! We already have one chatterbox and one constantly-glued-to-a-human so he'd fit right in.

I will pop him in the post... Seriously I love him. But my lugs!!!

It's just that I've had Siamese since I was knee-high and they can be a mouthy lot. Generally they're just after communication/attention so I was trained, from an early age, always to respond to them. (And in some instances, to 'get your retaliation in first'!) It doesn't need to be a Gettysburg Address response but you do need to reply to a bonded cat in my experience, even if it's only a series of 'Unh-Huh's or something similar.

He sounds as if he wants more attention from you, anyway. Do you play with him much?

He gets as much attention as I can give him. He meets me at the house when I drive home. Both cats do. He follows me on walks to the shops. Across several roads and waits for me. He follows me to the bathroom. He gets jealous if I let the female.

He likes to sit next to me. And sleeps with his head on my hand or his paw on my leg.

He gets head rubs, tummy rubs which he adores. And chin scratches.

He looks pathetic if he can't physically get to me ...

He is gentle. He is powerful I know that but as soon as a cat comes into my house they learn not to attack or claw me. Never once has he showed anything of concern about the wee one.

He is woosy though. Won't go near neighbour who offers him treats. Shakes at dogs where the female keeps dogs from the street under her paw. She is the boss.

He has a wee pal that he hangs about with. That cat sometimes comes in with him.

He really is soft.

There was discussion when he was tiny that the vet thought he had some Bengal in him.

I have never known a cat as big. He really is a big lad.

Good job I love him eh. Another 10 years minimum of this.....

Could you fit in some games? Waking him up from a snooze to play is often good.

PS - would he take some good quality dry food if given it? (As a substitute for existing wet.) I'm thinking that rather than DH just giving him some food in the kitchen - probably to 'shut him up' - he could maybe be given some dry in a food toy?

Dry food is the spawn of the devil. It can only be taken in small quantities. And I have taken to putting it in a jar in the hall so he has to work to get it out.

Tried leaving it in a dish but it was ignored. Mixed in with wet food. So eaten round....

He truly drives me nuts.

Hub has never known a mog like him. I haven't either.

Who knew it was possible for a cat to pout.

You only need small quantities in, say, a food ball. I'd be getting him one of those for a try (they're only cheap) and having a stern talk to DH about not 'giving in' just to keep him quiet. (It may not be for very long, hopefully.)

It's very sweet the way he seems to be watching over your DS.

Biscuits are only eaten off the side of the dish here, and only 3 times. After that its poisen.

Can you lock him in the kitchen overnight so he has outdoor or kitchen but not upstairs?.
