Are daffodils poisonous to cats?

Someone has mentioned this to me...we won't have any Lily's in the house because we're aware they're poisonous but does the same go for daffodils?!

I've never heard that before, but given the prevalence of daffs, I'm sure we'd be more aware of a problem!

My late cat ate some. Piles of yellow commit everywhere. Rushed to vets and treated. She was fine thankfully but they said they are poisonous.

Daffodils are poisonous to everyone. We went to a safari park once that had a sign warning anyone feeding the giraffes daffodils would be shown the way out and not welcomed back.

I think most if not all of the spring bulb flowers are poisonous to cats.

AFAIK, they are not quite as poisonous as lily - you could have them in the house as long as the cat doesn't eat them, whereas one tiny bit of lily pollen can be a killer.

To be fair, pyjamacat ignores all plants and cut flowers. It's possibly the only thing he is sensible about.

Lilies cause renal failure. So death. If you know theyve eaten them and get them treated before symptoms, they have a chance.

Daffodils cause a severe stomach upset. Treatment is of the symptoms. So will need a lot of vet care to nurse them through, but it is more treatable.

Yes they are. I saw a list at our vet last year and they were one. I did take a photo but it'seems on my old phone. Think potatoes was another and unsurprisingly deadly nightshade. Think the list was an International Cat Care one.

Basically any bulb flowers are poisonous to cats.

Makes garden centre trips a bit of a nightmare though, and my cats have waged war on, what they consider, the stupid flowers I planted. They get in the way of them digging and pissing in the flowerbeds.

Unfortunately it looks like Pyjamacat has been poisoned with something today. He's at the vets tonight on a drip but his blood results are normal so that's good. Vet thinks it's something he's eaten or come into contact with but I have no idea what. Our garden is cat safe as far as plants go but his hunting patch is vast. I can't keep him in as he gets stressed but now I never want to let him out again 😿

Hmm didn't know this. Mind you my cat isn't too interested in plants or flowers. He tried to nibble some cacti though.

No idea what caused him to collapse last night but he's not going out tonight unless he won't use his litter tray. He's on the sofa feeling hard done by but back to his usual grumpy self.
