Anyone got experience with Savannahs?

A friend of a friend is looking for a home for the cat and we were already looking for a cat. I am allergic to some cats, btw, so will need to be really careful what we get.

Anyway, what are Savannahs like? This one is an F4, we aren't necessarily after a pedigree, but thought we might be able to help out this friend of our friend, who needs to rehome the cat soon, as she's emigrating.

There's a YouTube Savannah cat in America, his owner is a very glam buxom blonde whose cleavage is also in every shot.

There still quite rare here though. It'll have a lot of energy, does it go out?.

The only one I have ever meet was a proper madam who would fight anything including on one occasion a mink. She did have a fair number of health problems.

A Mink? Blimey.

Didn't see the mink afterwards, but I treated the wound the Savannah had. Large bite wound over her hip all the way to the pelvis with bone visible. It healed nicely with 8 weeks of very intensive treatment.

Ouch.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't seen him yet, so will let you know, but the owner says he's shy of strangers and not at all aggressive, which is good... He's gorgeous, but I am really wary of buying a cat that may have lots of health problems due to its breed (small liver, I believe). There are so many conflicting stories out there.

Funny I was just watching a video of Savannah yesterday. The chap seems to breed and has a huge property but wont let it off the lead. I felt very sorry for the poor thing

There was a mumsnetter with a Savannah but it was a few years ago now. He went outside but he wore a thick leather collar.
