Litter tray issues!

I have a 12 week old kitten and a 3 year old cat. The kitten is using the litter tray to wee in but is pooing next to the tray. I have 2 trays for my older cat in different part of the house and 2 trays for the kitten. My older cat has never used the kittens trays and they are kept separate at night time/when I'm at work. I have tried using different litters, moving the trays, vet visit and feliway.

Both cats seem to get along ok, grooming each other, snuggling up together to sleep and apart from a bit of hissing initially there has been no issues with the cats.

Any suggestions on how I can get the kitten to poo in the litter tray?!

Perhaps you might pick up the poo and put it in the litter tray so that the kitten recognises the smell/place etc?

I have been doing that, should have put it in my OP. She doesn't seem to have a preference for litter and quite happily uses 2 trays to wee in! and poos next to one of them!
