My indoor cat
He has FIV but for the last three days has been shouting at me non stop all day and night and scratching at the door
In a fit of desperation I bought him a harness and texted CPL who said go for it
Weirdo sat there while I wrestled harness on, carried him out the door and then trotted along like he was a dog
My neighbours are going to think I'm insane aren't they?

Not as keen today until he got sniffing but he's had about 15 mins outside and now fast asleep which will do me

I'm thinking of trying this with Harry after he's been home a while. I'll probably live to regret it but no harm in trying!

Some guy around here takes his cat to ASDA on a lead - his girlfriend waits outside with it while he does the shopping, it's awesome!

Well done for getting him to walk with you wearing a leash! I find that taking them out, leashed and supervised if need be, makes for much happier cats. I take my cats for a walk all the time - all our neighbours think I'm crazy, especially when all the other neighbourhood cats follow us and I end up looking like the Pied Piper of cats.

We saw someone walking their cat a couple of weeks ago. Both DH and I did a double take, and then wondered how she'd gotten the harness on.

One of my cats would love this She's convinced she's a puppy - sleeps on the dog's rug on the floor (despite the fact that cats are allowed on the sofa), wants to be with him, and stands plaintively by the front door when we head out for a walk, despite the fact that she has a perfectly good catflap that she can use at any time.

Mine don't go on a lead, but they like to go for a walk with us. So we trundle along with the dogs, child, and two cats... But my parents used to go for a walk with their goats and a couple of cats so I have no shame!

I did similar when I got my first rescue cat and he was crying crying crying to go out two days after arriving, still got photos of him in his turquoise harness and lead.

Mind you, he didn't walk on the lead, just tried to take off vertically like a demented kite :)

Great effort on your part letting him have the freedom he craves within the confines of his condition, sod what the neighbours think!

I have two cats and they both love a walk. Well I say "walk" but one runs the whole way, usually pursuing the dogs and the other I cannot get to actaully walk. He just climbs into the buggy when we're going out the door and sleeps in the basket laziest cat in the universe

We have a kitten who is now 5 1/2 months old and have been having him out on a harness since his first vaccinations. He now jumps up when he sees his harness.

I reel it out so he has a bit of freedom but he is far too stupid to be let off yet. He manage to dart 10 ft up a tree and fall down when I was off guard
