Does your cat have a daily routine?

We have just adopted a 3 month old kitten. Unfortunately no photo, but I am hoping I will still get some responses . I am finding that I am worrying a lot about what will happen in the future. My current worry is about what he will do when he starts to go outside. We don't want a catflap. I work from home so always thought that I would just let him in or out when he asked. Am I being a bit naive? Will he be forever coming in and out? And then what happens if we go out for the day? Do I leave him in? Or out? It's driving me crazy!

We have had cats for about 17 or 18 years. Never had a cat flap.
Cats do tend to come in and out. If you aren't able to see that the cat wants to come back in or see them miaowing at the back door then that wouldn't work.
Cats in at night. Always!
If we go out we leave the cat inside. Hopefully they can have gone out for a bit before we leave or when we return. If no then it's not the end of the world. They are safe and dry and have access to food and water inside.

We don't have a cat flap as not easy to have one put in. Let the cats in and out as needed which does get annoying when they want in and out every five seconds. When we at work they are in all day or out or day depending on where they are when we leave. Usually both in at night. Have a litter tray and food water inside at all times.

If I'm in the house and it's not actually snowing then my bedroom window is open for Her Mistyness to do her kitty business.

If I am out for the day I like her to be in but sometimes she decides to stay out all day.

Morning, she meows in my ear if I'm not up by 6.30am, she is fed and then goes out for her morning stroll.

She then comes in and sits on me, has breakfast or cleans herself until 8.00am when she goes of for breakfast at the neighbour's with all the local cats.

If it is a nice day then she will sit on his wheely bin win another 2 or 3 cats on the other bin and/or on the doormat, sort of guarding.

If it's a nic day I probably won't see her until mid afternoon unless I go out in the garden, she will be either sunbathing or sitting on the roof mewing to make me wonder where she is.

About 6pm I get told off if I have been to work, or sat on if I am home, about 8.30 she goes out for her evening kitty business and then comes back and sleeps on me.

She will mew at me to come in different windows but I tell her to use the bedroom window.

Mine don't go far but they definitely have their routines, and they don't like disruption. They wake me up at 6.30 and have breakfast, then Zara goes out the yard, weather permitting, and Bibi goes back to sleep. Zara then comes for her cuddle with me if I'm working from home, or for a nap if I'm not (I presume). Mid afternoon, if I'm working from home, Beebs comes down for some attention, then they have some games when I get in, then tea, then they go in and out/about their business in the evening, then Beebs sleeps for the night on top of the wardrobe/my head, and Zara comes for a cuddle under the covers or else goes in the wardrobe. They don't like much deviation from this.

Ours are fed a pouch of meat at 7:30am, DP and I then leave for work,
Return at 4:30pm, feed another pouch a(biscuits down all day) and let them out - if it's raining they will stand at the door giving us dirty looks and telepathically telling us to make the rain stop.
they will repeat this about 4 times until they realise the rain isn't stopping and so will go out anyway.
Depending on the day/temperature/mood they're in/what's cooking for tea they are back in within an hour, never back home later than 8pm.
Will cry at window or door to come in.
They're closed in the dining room with litter tray, beds and scratch post on a night purely because they had a habit of waking us up by knocking over water glasses at 2am. They see us getting sorted to go to bed and put themselves to bed now all we have to do is close the door.

We don't have a cat flap, just let her in and out when needed but I don't let her out when I work (2/3 days a week) and my DS lets her out when he gets back from school. If we go away for the night my parents come and look after her.

I don't have a cat flap, my cats usual routine is out first thing, they do a quick patrol of the garden, then they come in and have breakfast. Whether I leave them in or out very much depends on the weather!!

In the nice weather they are happiest outside, if cold or wet they want to be on my bed!!

The evenings can be a bit annoying as they do seem to want to come in and out a few times, I won't let them out after 9pm as a couple of times they haven't come back and then I worry all night!

My two come in from a night on the tiles, have breakfast early then one sleeps with DH, the other on my chair (I've gone out to work).

They sleep all day until I get home, then it is tea time. They eat outside then time for loo break and then they're in again for evening, sleeping again; one on me, one on DH. Later on they are let out for the night and get up to all sorts of mischief.

We don't have a cat flap either (but I know they use other peoples .

5am: I get up for work. If it's my day off, then around 5.30, they start scratching at the bedroom door.
6am: DP gets up, they come for a cuddle and get fed at 6.30.
6am-12pm - I assume they sleep, eat, do the usual.
I get home at 12.30pm. Girl cat is asleep on radiator and the boy on the bed. Boy gets up and says hello everyday.

12.30-4pm, boy goes back to bed, girl sleeps.
4pm - DP gets home, both come and say hello. Boy sits with me, girl on DP.
Boy then goes back to sleep, Girl stays in with us for the evening.
9pm - I feed them, go to bed and boy stays in with me until DP comes to bed and boots him out!
