Bibi then and now

Inspired by Iwouldrather, I looked out a pic of Habibi on the day I got her home from the shelter, and a recent comparison shot. I love a happy ending!

She's a cheeky chunky monkey who considers herself a queen. But I wouldn't have her any other way

She was a little scrap when you got here wasn't she?. She looks so healthy now.

She really was. You could see the bones in her back and bum :(. She had every virus going. Still carried herself like a conquering lion though!

Where did they find her?.

Sheltering in an abandoned rabbit hutch with her 2 kittens. She must have had them at 6/7 months.

Oh the poor girl. So young to have kittens too.

No wonder she was so thin feeding two kittens when she's barely an adult herself.

A little too far, if anything :S. It took so long to get her well though, between the coronavirus and panleucopenia and everything else, I must confess it gives me great pleasure to see her chubby and sleek.

I don't know for sure but I doubt it. She was +ve for panleucopenia whilst feeding them, so I'm afraid they wouldn't have stood much of a chance :(. I didn't ask as many questions at the shelter as I should have because I'd recently lost a lovely cat and it was a rather reckless, spur of the moment-thing, very emotional. She singled me out and mewed determinedly to be picked up, and started purring like a tractor as soon I was holding her. The shelter was having an open weekend, it was Sunday p.m. and they told me I was the only person all weekend who'd looked at her. It all worked out for the best though :)

I suppose the others wanted kittens and not adult females. I'm so pleased you took her.

She didn't give me much choice! She was perfectly adamant that she was coming home with me. I think we were both lucky

Sounds like you were definitely chosen and she is B E Autiful!

I have a 'transformer' here too (scrawny, knotted, smelly reject) who is now a glossy coated, always on the verge of rotund (he's just FLUFFY Mr Vet & virtually skeletal under that thick coat, honest! :)) cheeky, confident ruler of the roost.

So satisfying when you've managed to turn their life around isn't it, doubly so in your case as you had health challenges to deal with as well.

My Bibi thanks you Bibi! Yes of course, it's all fur, that's what we tell our vet too XD! It's truly satisfying, but I think a lot of the credit has to go to Bibi herself. She has a huge amount of spirit. Even our old vet, a rather clinical type, called her a very strong girl.

Just came back for another peek at her gorgeousness, she just looks so sleek & happy now :)

Agree that lots of credit belongs to her, hadn't thought of it like that.

Amazing the strength they have really, often wonder how my 'ruler with an iron paw' coped for two years plus of being ignored & made to live outside in all weathers.

I know there are cats who prefer to be outside but it was clear from the very beginning this one definitely didn't!
