House cat got out and won't stop whinging

I've got an 9 month old girl and she's full of energy. I've kept her a house cat until I accidentally left the kitchen window open and she got out. Now she won't stop crying to go out. I would let her out but I live on a busy main road and have lost quite a few cats to cars and don't want the same to happen again

Any advice on how to stop her from crying?

I'm sure it's not what you want to hear but I think the best solution would be to rehome her somewhere where she's safe to go outside and instead give a home to an older rescue cat who's used to living indoors.

I was thinking about getting one of those cat avairy things but don't want to let her out in the mean time. She's got plenty of toys to keep her occupied but is whiny to go out now she got out. She was never bothered before

Is she spayed?

if not it may be that she's in heat, they really have some whinges then. We have also cat proofed our garden so they can't get out and our 2 are happy with that (as happy as they know they can be)

Christ the racket they make when in season. It's enough to hot foot them to the vet by the scruff.

I don't know what to suggest other than a run. Even that may not be enough now she's had a taste of freedom and they're persistent buggers.

Noo she's not been spayed yet, planning on getting her done after Christmas as busy getting stuff ready for baby's arrival. I have had a Male cat come to the window to meow at her and she pines after he's gone so I think she is in heat

It's not really that complicated to get her spayed. Probably a huge amount less hassle than trying to keep her in, in the meantime.

I don't have time as heavily pregnant and working full time. I'm going to take her when I start my leave after Christmas. She'll just have to keep pining until then, I don't need kittens as well as a baby

Thing is if she's already been caught when out it'll be better to get her spayed sooner rather than later if she's already pregnant.

She was only out for 2 minutes and was in my sight the whole time, I managed to get her with her treats as she's a sucker for them

If she is coming into heat then it's going to get worse before it gets better.

I would get her spayed asap. It's really not that much hastle. drop off at vets first thing, pick up after work. job done.

I think she's teething too, she's just knocked my little Christmas tree over and is using it as a chew toy

I'll see if one of my family members can get her done for me next week

Getting some feliway might calm her down a bit in the meantime, although I think it takes a while to start working.

You don't need much time to get her spayed, just drop her off in the morning and pick her up after work.

Our 7 year old and 3 year old cats love to chew the tree, that never stops haha!

I agree with the advice to get her spayed ASAP. That way it will be less stressful if she does manage to escape! Kittens would be one less thing to worry about, with a baby on the way!

That should calm her down significantly. But if she's still desperate to go out after that, I think Thumbcat's suggestion might be your best option.

I wonder if your vets has an pet ambulance that would pick her up? or drop off the night before so it's easier in the morning.
