BastardCat is not speaking to me

He doesn't like the food that I have put down for him.

He has tried following me and purring. He has tried jumping up at me. He then had a tantrum, upended his dry food (which he has been eating) all over the kitchen and stormed out through the cat flap. I swear he made a rude gesture as he went.

Unfortunately it is freezing and pissing down, so he stalked back past me 20 minutes later and is now hiding upstairs.

Fussy little fucker.

Hang tough. This moment could be key in your relationship.

paulapompom · 01/12/2015 13:01

Clearly he needs other food, even if he has always loved the food he has. I think he wants you to tempt him with fresh chicken, tuna (line caught) or Dreamies. Or anything else he fancies. At any time he fancies eating. In a bowl he likes. And don't let it rain. Unless he wants it to! Problem solved. Grin Xmas Grin

It's clearly poisoned. Or off.
Cats know best.
Our two will throw a strop if we feed them downstairs and they want food upstairs. Or vice versa!

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/12/2015 16:46

Mine gets bored, he's currently hoovering up aldi premium pouches. The butchers choice is cats protection bound.

Maybe he's had enough of that food for a while.

Donge13 · 01/12/2015 16:49

My cat it a arsehole!! He is always doing this.he is currently turning his nose up at anything other than smoke salmon.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 01/12/2015 17:39

DH came in and was seduced by the pathetic purring. He has now had fresh food. I was prepared to wait it out!

Of course you were.

The cat will have logged that too.

Dad = Great bloke, salt of the earth. Top man.
Mum = Utter witch. Potential starver of cats. Needs more training.

A few Dreamies on the top works every time in this house.

BuggersMoggy has an infuriating habit of getting bored with his preferred food, taking tantrums and going stropping off to the neighbours for a better offer. We now rotate his meals because we are well trained humans Grin

When this fails, Dreamies.

cozietoesie · 01/12/2015 21:00

Just stick to the set food times. If food isn't eaten at one, replace it with new at the next food time.

If you give in, it's two steps down the primrose path. Before you know it, you'll be hovering anxiously with morsels of smoked salmon or rare moist beef. Grin

Was the dish empty?

Pointlessfan · 02/12/2015 22:19

I swear my cat was actually trying to show me the roast turkey on the front of the supermarket magazine today, he was sitting by it giving me his "I've never been fed look".

hollinhurst84 · 02/12/2015 22:21

Mine is on starvation as being scoped tomorrow. So I'm getting the "please hold my paw while I sleeps, I so needy" Hmm
Along with "why you no feed me? I wasting away"

If it's dry food, it's amazing what shaking it about a bit and adding a few fresh pieces will do....

coffeeisnectar · 02/12/2015 22:23

God this is so familiar!! Boy cat comes in and I feed him. He looks at the bowl and then follows me trying to rub against my legs but the front of them so I am tripping over him. When it's clear he's not getting anything else he wraps both front paws round my ankle and sticks his claws in.

10 minutes later I find him eating the food I gave him originally. Chancer :o

We had roast chicken tonight, dd was at work so a spare seat at the table. He suddenly appeared on the chair and watched every mouthful we ate. And used his sad face.

coffeeisnectar · 02/12/2015 22:24

Sad face that hollin cat uses!! They are so good at it.

hollinhurst84 · 02/12/2015 22:31

He's used to getting his last meal about now poor love so he's not happy!
Although rules have been established (he's fed raw) since the chicken wing in bed incident Hmm

ZebraOwl · 03/12/2015 23:28

hollinhurst my cats like me to hold their paws when they're going back to sleep after a nightmare...

Corygal · 03/12/2015 23:36

Mr C knows he can sweat me, as the young people have it, for two days before I give in. I'm in a worse state than he is by the time I stump defeated to the shop to get another brand in.

Mind you, when I get it right I get a counter-offer of The Belly, with paws in the air, as a bedtime treat. Lush.

FattyNinjaOwl · 03/12/2015 23:51

Fattycat has learnt to pester DS for food. DS panics if the dish is empty as he might starve! He's only a baby!

Yeah, but he can survive without food for more than 2 minutes!
