Female kittens neutering

I have got two 5-month old kittens, just wondering can anyone give me some advice about neutering??

They will be getting it done in December, but I am worried about what happens before and after the op.

For starters, why are you waiting until December? They should be done at four months really. Five at a push. If they are not able to get out at the moment I don't suppose it matters too much, but they may well come into heat before December which is distressing for everyone. So firstly, see if you can book them in sooner.

As for before and after- well before you just don't feed them from 10pm the night before. After seems to depend on the vet. We don't use cones and just say the cats must be kept indoors for at least five days. That's it. Nothing special you need to do and the cats won't even realise anything has happened more often than not.

My vets don't do the neutering until they are at least 6 months old, they have just been for their vaccinations and are booked in to be neutered on 1st December.

My vets refused to neuter before 6 months too. We just have her tea as normal the night before and then took her in in the morning. She was fine immediately but had to wear a cone for a week.. Busted her way out of it on day two and chewed out her stickers but the vets weren't worried.

The other cat came from the rspca already neutered at 14 weeks. Much easier.

Chewed her STITCHES!

Seems like every vet is different then, will just have to see what advice they give me afterwards.

Ours wanted to wait until 6 months too.
