I KNEW it was a slippery slope...

I was at Pets At Home last week buying some food (much better deals online, must remember to be more organized in future), there was a Cat Charity there, small local one with photo's of cats & kittens to rehome.

I had a chat with lovely lady about my Lulu, saying she wasn't fussed with other cats when she was the rescue centre, but I feel she could do with some company now. The last thing I want to do is make her stressed & miserable though.

They have said I can try her with a kitten for a few weeks, they have suggested male. Lulu has had a few litters when she was very young.

I had a call yesterday saying they have a 12 week black boy called Kiwi available now.

Any thoughts on this? What would I need for a kitten? Lulu was 4 when she came to us.

Presumably he won't be litter trained, so another litter tray for a start.

Crikey! I need how to know to litter train him.

I think I will need a room set up for him? Litter tray, food, toys etc. Is 12 weeks really young? I'm guessing I will have to keep him separate from Lulu for a while & introduce slowly

Lots of advice online or MN how to introduce cats which contradicts what we do successfully so I won't post what we do.

Litter tray he may have hang of already, lots of it is instinctive. But since you need to keep him in, anyway, you'll need a tray in his safe space.

Cats don't really get lonely for other cats, btw, your older cat may always hate the new guy. This is okay as long as they don't draw blood.

Our kittens came to us at 12 weeks and they were already litter trained, so hopefully you won't have to worry about that!

Yes - at 12 weeks he should definitely be litter trained. (Although he'll need a tray or two all to himself.)

I am thankful lljkk that the charity will let me try Kiwi with Lulu before committing!
I really don't want to make Lulu's life miserable.
