We've had an issue for a while now in our 13 yr old cat with diarrhoea. It comes and goes, and her weight fluctuates. She's had blood tests and been thoroughly checked but they found nothing and she's otherwise happy and affectionate, eats well etc. Vet put it down to ibd or feline IBS. It's recently (last 3 days) got much worse, not sure if a food thing, a stress thing (we were away for a few days and a cat sitter looked after them) or the fact that the weather has changed so she won't go outside. Instead she is going all over the house. Sometimes stools are fairly hard, sometimes liquid (sorry for tmi!). She always wees in litter tray though (changed every time).
After 3 lots of clearing up today, my other half is sick of it and is muttering darkly about pts. He's not serious, but it is upsetting for everyone. She has a vet appt next week but any suggestions about good food to try or anything else to think about would be welcomed. Or vet tends to want to run every possible test, which is often distressing for the cats, hugely expensive and given her age I'm keen to avoid too much 'interfering' with her to keep her distress to a minimum.
She's currently on whiskas simply as anything results in her throwing it straight back up. I will get some chicken for her tomorrow but she gets bored with plain chicken after a day or so.
Any suggestions welcomed!
