Missing boy cat -give me hope stories

My cat didn't come home last night and there is no sign of him today either. I know it doesn't sound very long but he has never not come in at night before. He is 2 and neutered but because he was once partly feral he wouldn't go near strangers and he has a fear of going through doors into confined spaces - probably ruling out sheds garages etc.. I have looked around the area especially near the road and no sign. I feel sick with worry but I know it's early days and that hopefully no news is good news. Please tell me about out of character disappearances and return home stories.

Mine did exactly the same at about the same age as yours. Didn't come home one night, no sign all the next day and then at 7:00am on the 3rd day he appeared, bouncing on my bed.

I have no idea where he was but he did have oily paws so was maybe shut in someones garage.

I was worried sick and spent the evening of day 2 walking the streets and shouting him, I was so happy when he returned!! Hopefully yours will be the same and turn up soon.

My dad and step mum had a cat go missing, by the time he'd been gone for a year and they'd long given up on ever seeing him again, then they got a phone call from a vet about three miles away. Someone had brought in a stray that had been hanging around the bins at the back of a Tesco, when the vet checked the cats microchip my dad's details came up.

They've still got the cat, and he's not gone missing again.

Thank you so much for these they are helping me to keep looking on the bright side. Sadly over the years we have had two of our cats hit by cars but both of these we found very quickly which is giving me hope that it's not that.

We had a six month old boy cat adopt us last weekend. He was very over friendly and kept coming in the house! So I took a few snaps and posted on our local 'bargains' FB group.

Within 40 minutes he'd been collected by very relieved owners who'd been worried sick. He'd wandered from the other end of town.

Hope you get news soon or he turns up.

Any sign, OP?

I am in exactly the same position - DBoyCat last seen Saturday night. I have checked the verges on the bit of road that he crosses (I wish he wouldn't - there are plenty of fields to hunt over without crossing the bloody road) and wandered around checking hedges etc. I am wondering if I should call the vet - but he's microchipped, so if anyone brought him in they would call us, right Sad?

Trouble is, his predecessor used to delight in giving me heart attacks before turning up after a few days. Until the day when he didn't and I found him on the road [sob].

Well guess who just strolled in! I was literally crying with relief and he just looked at me as if I was mad. Hope your boy turns up soon stealth. Why do they do it to us!!!

So glad he came home - and if he's anything like ours, will now eat and sleep and nothing else for a few days.

No sign of ours yet - I am obviously not worried enough yet... (Yes I am. Bloody cat).

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2015 21:13

That's such good news. Now we just need squiggle boy to get his furry bum home.

stealthsquiggle · 05/10/2015 21:35

Squiggle girl is going to whoop his furry backside when he gets home - she is wandering around being professionally bored because she has no one to wind up/ chase up and down stairs/ bounce on.

stealthsquiggle · 07/10/2015 08:52

Guess who strolled in this morning Grin

He is so getting a new collar and name tag (he shredded the last one) because he does not have the air (or figure) of a cat who has been living rough for 3-4 days.

He wasn't even starving - ate half of his breakfast and headed off to find a bed to sleep on Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2015 09:31

Thank heavens for that.

chocolatespiders · 07/10/2015 19:16

So glad he is home!

timtam23 · 07/10/2015 22:28

Very glad to hear that they are both home Smile

Wolfiefan · 07/10/2015 22:30

I only spotted this thread just now. So glad to hear of a happy ending. Our kittens are too young to be neutered so are staying in on house arrest! I will be a nervous wreck when they finally venture out. Wink

Hurrah Grin
