What age to let out?

Kitten is 6 months old. He's neutered and vaxxed, wormed etc.

He's staring longingly out the window. DH says we should let him have a wander in the garden, I think he's a baby and never want to let him out! ( I will really at some point).

So is he still too young?

We let ours out at 6 months. We did it on a saturday morning before breakfast so he had something to come home for.

I'd also like some advice on BogBastardKittens first outing. He will be losing his manhood on Tuesday, and is fully jabbed. 6 months old and desperate to explore the big wide world. He's 3.5kg and although a pedigree is a Siberian which is basically an unreconstructed Russian wildcat Smile, so I don't think there are any issues of being too thick and inbred to cut it.

Previous cats I've lived with as a kid were bred on a farm/ on local common/ adopted as adults, so I've never had the whole First Outing issue before!

I think it takes a fortnight for the hormones to run out, so he'd still have a bit of a sex drive, especially if an in-heat female is around.

Winters an excellent time to do the first outing because it's interesting but not too interesting and they soon come back when it's cold.
