Kitten food important or not?

Does it matter if a 3-month-old kitten has adult food? I've been putting kitten food down, but more often than not the adult cats eat the kitten food & the kitten eats theirs, so is it better all round if they all eat the same?

I do think that it's important for kittens up to about 9 months to eat age appropriate food as it contains nutrients more suited to their needs. What I have do, in a multi cat household, is feed the kittens wet meals separately as well as leaving out biscuits for all the cats. This way the kittens get the nutrients they need, your older cats don't get fat on kitten food and - hopefully - everyone is fed and happy. I generally feed my cats Royal Canin as it's good quality, has a higher than average protein content and they have food for different ages and stages.

our vet said there is not much difference between kitten and adult food, but we have a 1 year old and a 5.5 month old and if the kitten eats the adult food in gravy it gives him an upset tummy, so for now, we're keeping him on kitten food in jelly.

The food I have is all in jelly (Felix - doubly delicious adult, & regular kitten) & the kitten's digestion seems ok with that. Trouble is all of them are grazers so I can't feed & then remove dishes

The adult cat biscuits are Royal Canin vet care neutered female - & the kitten is male, not neutered yet - I don't think he's eating a lot of those though. I do have a bowl of kitten biscuits elsewhere & he's still eating those sometimes.
