How long to keep cats in when moving house?

Just that, really. We are moving today and DH has just brought our cats to the new house. They are 11, not very active and have only ever lived here.
Any advice?

I agree, about two weeks

We are moving in two weeks and while one cat is a house cat by choice and not an issue, I think we'll have issues with the other who lives on the shed roof and only comes on when it's cold, he's hungry or its hammering down with rain. He's quite hard-core :o

Also we aren't moving far so predict he will come back here to his shed roof any opportunity he gets. We've warned the new owners.
