Have we got fleas?

we looked after our friends kitten for a week a few weeks ago, it was bought from someone online so i don't know what sort of treatments it had before our friends got the cat.

Anyway, its been gone for a few weeks now and DP and i have got small red bites all over our feet, ankles and calves which are insanely itchy and (perhaps from scratching) dry up into tiny scabbed over bumps after a day or two. Our five year old doesn't have any bites.

Now as someone who doesn't have pets i just want to know if we have a flea problem or if it sounds like something else.

Possibly, Indorex spray is a good treatment and is sold at asda pharmacy's.

Do you have a cat?.

No, we just looked after one for a while a few weeks ago, i hadnt considered fleas until today, when DPs dad mentioned that it might be!! Thanks for the reply

Sometimes it's easier to get rid when you have a cat because you treat them and they get bitten and die.

Indorex will kill eggs and larvae too.

Thank you so much!

If you have fleas you should be able to see them. Lay some white paper on the carpet and watch. Or just look at your bare fetal. It won't be long before one hops on!

Feet.

DP did the paper test, he's lived with animals before, and we didn't see anything at all! Will repeat today and watch out for them

I'd be surprised if it was fleas. To be bitten like that you wouldchave a LOT. We had a flea problem a couple of years ago, took a few weeks (and a change of treatment for the cat) to sort it but neither of us were bitten.

We decided it was fleas yesterday as DP plucked one off his ankle, we have a charcoal grey carpet so we hadnt noticed before but the cat left around four weeks ago and we only started getting bitten in the last week.

Have you mentioned it to our friend ? (Difficult I know because you won't want to sound accusatory - but if there is a flea problem, the wee scrap needs some treatment fast.) Indorex is good stuff by the way - and hoover like a woman possessed as well, especially in the cracks and places which aren't walked on very frequently.)

We have been to their house over the weekend and actually found a flea on the carpet so showed it to them, they didn't seem surprised but we haven't told them about our house having them yet as DP is worried we might offend them by 'blaming' their cat.

And we bought a can of the indorex and sprayed everywhere yesterday, we did one torough hoover this morning and we'll repeat tonight and keep going at that pace until we stop getting bitten. Hopefully that'll do!
