Boy cat was castrated on Tuesday am. Tuesday Pm he had some red tissue showing where the sack had rolled open as he'd licked it. Went back, vet fixed it, put big antilick collar on. Later that day we saw t had happened again (skin over wound obviously loose) so I rung up.
They said on phone it was nothing to worry about, as long as it didn't bleed or get bigger that it would soon shrivel and dry and be ok, and to keep collar on untl Friday (tomorrow)
So we have done that (other than removing collar to eat as he just can't)
The red tissue is no bigger, and has dried out, but still obvious and prominent.
Boy cat is eating (am spoiling him with lots of wet food twice a day instead of the dry food to graze as he cant eat with the collar on) he's a bit grumpy, but tbh I think he's struggling to sleep comfortably and is getting annoyed with this big plastic contraption. His site looks clean, if a little weird, and his eyes and gums look fine. I think he may feel a little warm round the belly, but his sister is warm too so I don't know. He is using the litter tray fine.
So bearing in mind vets opening hours, do I ring tomorrow and get him rechecked before the bank holiday weekend? Or do I trust what they said the other day and leave him be, taking the collar off tomorrow?
