Deterring cats from weeing

Hello, I've just cleaned my doormat. Our cats (2) have a history of weeing on it regularly and I obviously would like to stop this habit. I've tried pepper and tin foil, but alas to no avail. Can anyone advise? Thanks! ????

Do you have a litter tray? If so how many and where?

Bio washing powder.

No litter tray, we are very rural here. I have this feeling it isn't because they desperately need to wee inside, it's because it's the front door and they want to scent it. Does that make sense?

Possibly, if another cat is spraying the wall/planters outside your house.

I would scrub the outside with hot water and bio powder plus buy 3 litter trays.

That's a great idea, for outside the house. We've trained the cats to not use litter trays but out of interest, why three?

The ratio is one per cat plus one so if they get possessive of one or have a favourite then there's a spare if they get caught short.

Our cat ignores both trays and does his business outside.

So you have a cat flap?

FennyBridges · 19/08/2015 21:08

Yes to cat flap :-)
