Please help - our cat is weeing everywhere. The house stinks :-(

We've had her since she was 9 weeks and she's been litter trained since day one. She's almost a year old

She started going behind the tv stand a couple of months ago so we moved the tv and put a heavy unit in the space so she couldn't get behind it to wee.

Now she's weeing in front of the unit :-(

She's also started weeing at the top of the stairs. The house stinks even though we run around after her cleaning patches of carpet- I'm getting the carpets cleaned on Wednesday.

What can we do to stop her? She also wees in her litter tray!

Firstly - do you think it is deliberate or uncontrolled weeing? Is she getting caught short and weeing where she happens to be? If yes then take her to vets for a check up. Cats can get a type of cystitis.

If not then is her litter tray cleaned regularly? Start cleaning it morning and evening and see if that helps. Might be she is just very fussy!

If not that then could be psychological - can't help with that! Try some Feliway - plug in thing supposed to calm stressed cats down!

It seems to be in the same places so on purpose I think - she's just been done and we hoped that that would help but it hasn't.

We usually just do the litter tray at night so will try doing it twice a day - good idea :-)

If cats start peeing places they shouldn't it's usually a sign that there's something wrong with them. Please take the cat to vet. What are you using to clean up after the cat?

She's been to the vet and been given a clean bill of health (she's a bit little for her age but totally fit and healthy)

We're using 1001 pet spray stuff.

Try a solution of bio washing powder and water. The enzymes kill the smell that attracts the cat back to pee there again. Have you changed litter recently?

Oooh - I'll definitely try that! Yes, litter gets changed every week.

Or did you mean changed litter brand? ? Haha - no, we've always used the same one!

Yeah, i meant brand . Any new cats in the neighbourhood stressing her out? Is she fixed?

She's only just started to go out and just tends to potter round the back garden at the minute so no other cats. I wonder if going out more would help??

Hmm. She does sound stressed. Do you notice other cats in your garden?

Yes - she sits on the window sill and gets excited when she sees other cats - hmmm, we definitely need to encourage her to go out more.

This sounds ridiculous but I worry about her going out because she's little I'm scared the big cats will pick on her

I wouldn't worry too much. Girl cats tend to be very savvy.
