Any recommendations for a brush for gathering loose fur?

When I stroke our cats, loads of loose hairs come away. Is there a brush or something similar that would be good for grooming and gathering the hairs to reduce loose hairs ending up all over the place? They are short haired cats.

It's worth the money then? Seems quite expensive!

I much prefer the Zoom Groom fit cats.

I use a Zoom Groom. It's the only form of brushing that MCat will tolerate.

Another vote for zoom groom here. The reverse side is also good for getting fur off sofas etc

I recently got a furminator for our semi long haired ancient mog. She was getting horrid matting undercoat. Miraculous! Clouds of fur off not now so hot mog.
But I was surprised by how gently you have to do it. Like a vvvvvvvv gentle sweep over the fur. Not like using a normal brush at all.
Wolfiecat tolerates it very well. She's been very stressed by me grooming her with anything else.

I have a zoom groom and a furminator and I would choose the zoom groom every time, the furminator is quite harsh and heavy and seems to drag/cut the coat out, rather than gently grooming. Zoom groom is much gentler and it is also brilliant at picking up loose hairs from furniture etc.
I have heard of people grazing their cats' skin with overenthusiastic use of a furminator
