Scratch post / scratch board recommendations?

Hi cat ladies Do you have any recommendations for a scratch post or board? I need a new one for my two. If it's a post it needs to be tall enough for them to stretch (they're 10 month old moggies, kind of teenager size) and sturdy enough to withstand perching. They liked perching on the scratch post we got when they first arrived (although it didn't have a platform) and it's now wobbly - from Pets at Home so probably not great quality. We DON'T want to get something huge and ugly that will blight our rather nice living room and might not even be used. DH has mooted the idea of scratch boards but where do you put 'em? Hang them on the back of a door? Attach to wall?
It preferably needs to be the perfect marriage of form, function and quality - but I realise such a thing probably doesn't exist

Something nice from an expensive furniture shop is usually the favourite.

Well yeah Took ages for me to persuade DH we should buy a lovely new sofa. Miraculously it's surviving (touch wood) but I do need to make sure we have an excellent scratch post/board in case temptation strikes. DH was aghast to see a couple of tiny marks on the back of our rather nice new armchair. I'm not too bothered but I do see his point. So for the sake of marital harmony and all that...!

If you check out zooplus they have some really nice ones. How tall do you want it to be?

I have this from zoo plus for my Maine Coon but it's about 4 1/2 feet tall. He loves perching at the top like batman though!

He is a tiny kitten in the pic btw for scale.

I don't like scratch boards - I don't think that encouraging a cat to scratch anything on a surface (door/wall) is very sensible. How about this one? Tall, skinny, unobtrusive.

Our cat gets a new scratch post every 6 months or so. It's tall and stable enough for her to stretch on but not massive.

We used to also have an OAP who wasn't very agile and didn't bother with anything vertical. She really liked scratch board and flat ones that we used to get from TX Max.

Thanks everyone! I've ordered a Palm Tree scratch post It looks fun but is also tall and has lots of 5* reviews. Hope the cats like it!

Also looking at scratch boards/beds for them... Those of you who have cardboard ones, do you get cardboard bits everywhere? Like most cats ours love cardboard boxes but they make such a mess. I worry that a cardboard scratch board would be the same.
