Ticks!

Anyone know of something that will keep ticks away? I use stronghold monthly on both cats as it's the only thing that works locally on fleas. It seems to keep ticks away when freshly applied but within a week or two they're back.
Short haired cat doesn't get them but poor long haired cat picks them up so easily. She's wary of DP so I can only usually brush her if he's not about. I try and get her twice a day so I can hunt through her coat for any ticks that are just walking around but 2-3 times a week I'm finding one that's attached. I'm a dab hand at getting them off now.
The horrible little bitters freak me out (particularly as she tends to sleep on my bed) so anything that repels them would be great.
Unfortunately missy cat would rather die than stay in doors so keeping her in isn't an option.

Doesn't advocate sort ticks out? I think it's still best to do a daily check anyway because it cant be nice for them.

There are only three products that are effective against ticks on cats Broadline, Seresto collar and Frontline.

Thanks for replies, had no internet for days. I'll try one of those when I get back from holiday. My dad's cat sitting whilst I'm away. As it turns out he is the only person other than me that she will go near so he's it for tick patrol- such lovely jobs he gets!
