Stray Kitten - need help!

I work in a pet store - two days ago a customer came in with a tiny kitten they'd found in the car park outside, it looks to be between 2 and 3 weeks old as his eyes are still squinty, he's a very wobbly walker and he only has the tips of his canines coming through.

I'm feeding him regularly with kitten formula, he's peeing a few times a day but has only pooped once which was by himself (while tucked in my shirt!)

However he's sleeping ALL THE TIME. Literally constantly, if you wake him up he'll open his eyes and meow or if you put him down somewhere he'll either stay awake long enough to meow and try to find you or he'll burrow in somewhere and fall asleep again.

He's responding to noises in the 20 seconds he's awake if you've woken him up but he's spent every other second asleep.

Does this sound normal? I spoke to a rescue shelter worker and she said it isn't, google says they'll sleep about 16 hours a day but with this little one, if I haven't disturbed him, he's asleep and even then he's only awake long enough to get comfortable again.

Advice would be so great :( I really want him to live

When I was younger, our cat had kittens and until they were around 4 weeks they did sleep a lot. Pretty much all the time unless feeding.
How often are you feeding him? I'd aim for every 3-4 hours. I may be wrong but doesn't mum lick their bottom to make them poo at that age? Maybe try a damp cotton wool pad to mimic mum? Gross but necessary!

Obviously keep him warm, down your shirt is great! And make sure he keeps taking formula.

You need to book him in with a vet tonight. Otherwise it's all just guesswork.

Poor little thing.

Please take him to the vet, not least because he's likely needing fed every couple of hours and that's going to exhaust you. They may say he needs to be woken to be fed.

Poor little thing. They're all head at that age... Have you tried weighing him each day to see if he's gaining weight and also making somewhere warm and snuggly (even using insulated wheat cushion or something) where he can be when you can't hold him. Have you seen a vet? They can go downhill very fast - the only way to go is to take advice from a professional on his condition.

Yes, get the kitten to the vet.
I hand reared 2 kittens after the mother rejected them.
Kitten formula every 3 hours with pipett
Put kitty in a litter tray lined with news paper
With a cotton wool ball dipped in Luke warm water, very gently rub its bottom to stimulate poo. This mimics what mum would regularly do. This is important as they can't poop independently.
I done this after every feed.
They both survived
