Peeing by the door

I had a thread recently about one of my girls peeing/pooing in the house but not in the litter tray.

The thread is here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_litter_tray/2350165-Cat-has-unhousetrained-herself

It was suggested that maybe it was arthritis but since my post, the girls spent a week at my parents whilst we were on holiday and had no issues using the trays.

Since returning home, she's started doing it again. Almost always by the front door. We've put plastic sheeting down by the door and she wees on that but also I think in other parts of the hall. The whole hallway and a lot of the house smells of cat wee and it's just awful.

I'm thinking it's probably territory related, any tips on how to get her to use the trays again, or even better start peeing outside like she used to?

At least she's not peeing on your head stealth like one of my pals is experiencing atm with one of her boys. [\silverlining]

That's okay Sunshine, I'm just very protective of my girls! We've got the feliway spray so will be using that and at least the floor will be easier to clean.

Bloody hell gamerchick, that would be much worse! Shock

Oh op one of my boys is doing this too. We moved 2 months ago. They have a cat flap out the back too.
My money is on him marking his territory at the front of the house (he can't get round to the front from the back). Fwiw tho I don't ever see any other cats at the front of the house.
He knows we leave through the front so it could be stress but he wees there when I'm in the house.

Sympathies op. I love my cats but aren't pleased with a door way stinking of pee!

It's such a difficult smell to get rid of as well isn't it?
Still, at least I got a good workout scrubbing floors!
