Cat ate tea bag

I'm feeding a friend's cat while she's away and have just discovered the cat had got into her Valerian tea bags and eaten most of one. I know Valerian is like catnip and I'm not worried about the herbs or the paper but what about the string? I couldn't find it on the floor so will have to assume cat ate it.

I wouldn't actually worry if my own cat ate it but friend's cat is very small and 16 years old.

I don't think there's anything I can do other than to keep an eye on things but would love reassurance that she'll be ok?!

Oh dear, I'd ring the vet tomorrow. Thin strings etc can cheese wire their intestines.

ASBO cat got away with eating string from the roast a few years back.

MCat has a liking for green tea-bags. Which he then pukes up. Little green herby pile. Stringless ones though.

Hope cat's OK.

Cat is fine so far. I have told my friend who wasn't too worried. Thinking about it, the way the bag was chewed the string would most likely have got chewed into bits anyway rather than being one long one.

My kitty did this Shock however she did puke up the string a day later. So hopefully your friends cat will do the same but call the vet tomorrow just in case

My cat loves those tea bags - is it the sleepy tea ones?!

He has chewed a few and always seemed none the worse for it Grin

Yes, the sleepy ones which seem to have the opposite effect on kitties!

Cat is fine and the owner is back from holiday now anyway.

Thinking of buying the cat a valerian cat toy as a present. Smile

Oh God, don't do that to your friend! Valerian smells like mouldy feet that've been standing in mouldy stilton.

We bought one. When we came home the house stunk to high heaven. Had to be chucked out.

My own cat has a toy with valerian and it smelt for about 30 minutes after being unpacked but has no smell no. Cat still likes it.

Once I ordered some catnip toys in the post and I'm sure the postman must have thought I was buying weed, the package smelt exactly like it...

Ha! Back in my Yoof, an over jobsworthy police offiecr decided he was going to take some dried catnip from me. To test if it was weed. It was still in it's original packaging. Confused

His superior told him not to be so silly. Grin

But the valerian toy I got for Little Monsieur must have been particularly stinky then. Was still stilton-ey after spending weeks in the garden. And I like smelly cheese. Couldn't stand that though.
