Hi all,

My cat has been missing for 6 days now Confused this will be the 7th night! We moved house a week and a half ago and he got out after just 3 days! That afternoon he went and came back a few times so I left him to it intending to get him in agsin after dinner and then he was gone! I'm devastated, I know it's my own fault I should have been more careful and I should have got him in again straight away! Dh is out again now looking for him! Iv given up hope!

Oh dear, poor you. Is he chipped?.

Iwasbornin1993 · 07/04/2015 21:49

Oh no! Hope you find him OP!

Very sorry to hear this. I hope he turns up. If he is chipped have you got the address swapped over with the chip company? Also would there be any chance that he might have tried to get back to your old house?

fenneltea · 07/04/2015 22:41

Ask the people at your old house to keep their eyes peeled for him, I'd also put up posters locally and use websites such as animalsearch.uk or cataware to notify as many people as possible, the postman is also a good person to keep an eye out.

Emptying your vacuum cleaner or leaving a used litter tray outside is supposed to hel them find their way home too.

Please don't give up looking, the more proactive you are then the better the chance of getting him back home.

Thanks everyone, our old house is about 6 miles away so it's possible he's making his way back there, luckily my mum and dad live over the road from my old house so they are keeping a close eye!

He is chipped, am going to change the address on it today but the phone number on it is still the same!

Iv tried the emptying the vacuum trick, I'll put his litter tray outside too see if that helps! I'll have a look at those websites too! Thinking about getting some flyers printed and posting them through people's doors asking them to check sheds and garages!

Oh you must be going spare. One of ours went missing after we moved, kept her in for 4 weeks, she went out didn't scent the garden, up over the fence and gone. We went out every chance we could looking for her. She was gone for 9 days and by sheer chance we saw a glimpse of her down the road and managed to catch her. She was literally just down the road, try going out at dawn and dusk if possible. Get posters up if you can, we printed them out and posted them through letter boxes, we got several calls and people were really kind and helpful.

Posters and flyers is definitely the way to go. Good luck.

Hi everyone, just to let you know Rory is home safe and sound! We got a call on Sunday from a lady who had seen him asleep in a skip outside her flat, we went to find him and he was still there curled up under a car, he was scared and hungry but otherwise ok! We are over the moon, he was gone for 12 days in the end and I honestly didn't think we'd see him again, posters do work! Smile X

Oh that's wonderful news!. You must be so relieved.

thecatneuterer · 15/04/2015 09:08

i'm very happy to hear it. How far away from home was he?

Ratfinkandbobo · 15/04/2015 09:39

Brilliant news, he must've got lost, bless him. I bet he is getting lots of fuss!!!

cuckoowith2 · 15/04/2015 10:41

He was literally round the corner! I don't think he could of been there the whole time because we'd been past there numerous times calling him! He is getting lots of fuss, we don't even mind him hogging the bed all night!! Grin
