Stray tom cat sprayed all over my house

A stray cat wandered in through my window and has sprayed all over my house downstairs. I can't seem to pinpoint exactly where he has sprayed, but now my whole living room smells terrible! How can I get rid of the smell without having to get my carpets, sofa and curtains professionally cleaned?

Oh dear. White vinegar will do it (as long as it doesn't harm the fabric). It will be like living in a chip shop for a few hours, but the vinegar smell will wear off and the tomcat whiff will be gone.
