got new 4 month old kitten today who has been here since midday and has yet to have a drink/eat. i have bought the food breeder said but she isn't interested, very stressed. am guessing that it is all the excitement/different distractions and am pleased i have a vets apt tomorrow (for reassurance). is this something to worry about or pretty normal (she hasn't been to the loo either). also, out of interest, do you put a (wiskas cat food tin) in the fridge once opened (don't usually use tins but pouches). thanks alot

I wouldn't worry at all, she'll probably eat/drink/toilet overnight.

Tins can go in the fridge but some cats won't eat food straight from the fridge as it dulls the smell, and I heard it can give them stomach aches from the cold. You can serve it into her bowl and leave it out for a bit to bring it up to room temp, or I think some people do a quick zap in the microwave!

That's no time at all, jeans, remembering that this is the biggest change in her life so far. She'll likely be tempted once things are a bit quieter in the evening - but you could also place her things in a fairly private place so that she can go there in a less observed way.

(And they can cross their legs for the longest time if motivated. This time tomorrow, I might be becoming a little anxious but not at the moment.)

That's good - even if it was tiny, it means she knows where her toilet place is.

You can all relax a bit now. Smile
