Our new arrival has just arrived and we are as giddy as a muffin!

I am so excited and nervous, nervous about ie what she will eat or not, will she poo everywhere and will she mind me wiping her face/bottom (if poo gets stuck to it) but aside from that, I love her to bits and can't quite believe she is here, so surreal

Our new arrival has just arrived and we are as giddy as a muffin!

no and no.....i have shown her where the litter tray is. tbh i am a little worried about her eating habits as well meaning breeders/owner seemed to bring her up on a diet that i won't be (bit of cheese, prawns, steak etc). i have put out some chicken wiskers although breeder said she won't touch it . fortunately i have a vet apt tomorrow so will go through all this with them. the transition may be a bit complicated, not ideal

She's lovely! Looks like the little sister of a cat I used to know - Persian chinchilla?

Try Felix "as good as it looks" if she is used to real meat, it's the closest I've found

She's beautiful!

I'd love a Persian, but hate hoovering.

I once worked in a hair salon/beauty parlor. The owners brought their Persian into work with them everyday. He was the most gentle, friendly and chilled out cat I ever met. Rolling about on his back for tummy fuss.

When we brought Little Monsieur home, last summer, I kept looking at him with amazement that he was ours at last. I expect you'll be doing a fair bit of that.

oddly enough, about a minute ago. just put up a separate thread moaning actually (whereby i mention the following...) because the previous owners have made our job very hard as she only seems to like/want to eat what WE are eating. Our previous cat showed no real interest in our evening meal (unless it involved tuna) whereby new kitten acts like a mad dog wanting to get on the table and eat our food . dd and i went and bought loads of stuff and have made a chart.....first on the list was a dried chicken job and i just caught her wolfing it down . previous owner had never given her dried, she seemed to think it was terrible stuff. vet thinks it is good with wet, for them to nibble throughout the day (his cat does this). somehow i think i would listen to what he says more than her..

actually, i just bought some more bitso granuels although it was for dh and i as we are having leg of lamb tonight although we will probably have to hide the bloody cat when we eat it as she will be freaking out trying to get at our plates. breeder also went on about giving her a bone to chew on. I didn't know people gave cats bones.

I'm not sure I would give such a young cat gravy made with Bisto Gravy Granules due to the high salt content.

Again I've not heard of cats being given bones to chew on, and I wonder if, like dogs, you should only give them uncooked bones due to the splintering risk of cooked bones. Of course cats eat birds, mice, etc., and crunch through those bones quite happily. I wold mention it to your vet the next time you see him/her, it is possibly thought to be a good way to strengthen the teeth.

You will need to be firm with the little lady and teach her not to get at your plates whilst you are eating or onto the worktops in the kitchen, etc., we managed to train all our cats not to do this so I am sure you will be able to. This breeder seems to have introduced some really bad habits to your cat, not fair at all.

Our cats have a mixture of wet and dry food and occasional treats such as chicken or tuna. Dried food available all day for snacking on as and when and wet food only put out twice a day, morning and evening.

You will enjoy her and she will adapt to her new way of life.
