Cat and kitten woes

I love my cat. I love her so much I got her brother ( much younger, different litter, same parents).

Original cat is sooooo unhappy. Kitten wants to play. Cat hisses and growls. She rarely purrs. It's been three weeks. Will they ever get on?(sad)

3 weeks isn't long, to be fair

Did you keep them apart to begin with?

Gothgirl78 · 22/03/2015 22:18

Yes I did. Then gradually introduced them. At night they are apart and kitten has a room big cat doesn't frequent very often. Kitten wants to play but cat thinks it's aggressive. We've got feliway .

How old are they individually, Gothgirl ?

Gothgirl78 · 23/03/2015 04:24

Cat will be 2 in May. Kitten is about 4 months.

That's exactly the reason we got out second cat Goth. Because we love MCat so much. And he was very clingy, so we thought he was lonely.

Well, I despaired for a couple of months, because like your situation, kitten wanted to play, MCat hissed, yowled and ran away. I really wondered if I'd made a mistake.

Now they're the best of friends!

Gothgirl78 · 23/03/2015 09:58

Great mantra. I hope that happens with me.Im not sure if it makes a difference but they are both Siamese.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/03/2015 10:12

Oh lord, two siamese in one house?.

Do they spend any time together nicely at all? Napping etc?.

Gothgirl78 · 23/03/2015 10:18

Not yet fluffy . I hope I don have to re home the kitten. I love him !

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/03/2015 10:22

If the worst comes the breeder ought to have him back & re-sell him, but, he's unneutered presumably so incredibly annoying to an adult cat.

Wait until he's been neutered. That usually calms them down.

Gothgirl78 · 27/03/2015 07:13

They still don't get on.

It's only been 4 weeks. Good grief your kittens paws are massive.

How soon can you get him castrated?.

Gothgirl78 · 27/03/2015 07:22

He's having a health check after Easter . They wouldn't neuter his sister until she was a certain weight, she was five- six months as sheds quite small.

They are both so totally gorgeous Smile

I've never heard of a two cat situation where they didn't end up at least ignoring each other - and they usually end up as best buds

RubbishMantra · 27/03/2015 08:51

Oh they're both bloody gorgeous! The young one looks a bit "who you looking at? Better not be me!"

My Si-Rex kitten just pestered MCat and ignored the hissing and yowling until MCat just gave in and befriended him.

Both now curled up in bed with me.

Gothgirl78 · 27/03/2015 21:10

Thanks Laurier and rubbish. Things are slightly better.

.... And army tanks. I have boy children

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 28/03/2015 07:30

That looks very promising. Who got on first?.

Gothgirl78 · 28/03/2015 08:41

Kitten got on first fluffy

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 28/03/2015 08:49

One seal point and one chocolate point?

That looks/sounds more promising than you might expect with two Siamese. Who has sleeping rights with you?

I'd have your boy neutered directly if you can clear it with the vet. Siamese and other orientals often mature pretty early on - four months is quite early enough to have hormones coursing through him already.

cozietoesie · 28/03/2015 08:53

*quite old enough

(Although clearly too early for me!)

Gothgirl78 · 28/03/2015 10:52

The kitten is a blue or lilac point according to its registration cozie. We need to get him castrated but after Easter. So far he's on the bed at night but the seal point stopped sleeping with us as I'm an insomniac who tosses and turns all night .

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/03/2015 11:31

I think it's progress, closet we got the chinchillas was on the same bed. One at the pillow end & one at the bottom.

They were from the same litter too.
