My cat has just had kittens, can I move them?

She had four and am pretty certain there aren't anymore.

She is in a box but it just has newspaper in it, which is filthy now. Can I move her and the kittens for a moment whilst I remove the paper and put some clean (old) towels in?

Congrats to Mummy Cat! I have never experienced the arrival of kittens firsthand but I've seen advice that says to change bedding often, even daily, so guessing that means it's not just okay but encouraged. One tip I saw was to put several layers of towels down at once then you can just remove the top layer each time and it's less of a fuss.

Ah that's a great idea, thanks! She doesn't seem keen on moving yet, so I'm leaving her be, but am concerned about her laying on nothing but damp paper. Perhaps when she needs the loo I could quickly do it then.

Found some more advice here if that's of any help. Good luck!

I'm sure you can move them.

When I was about 9/10 I came home from school to find the cat under my duvet on my bed with 5 kittens. If we hadn't moved her I would have been out of a bed.
