Last year we adopted littermates - a fiesty male and a quiet female. They were ten months or so.
Sadly, on Monday night the boy was run over Sad.We found him by the side of teh road and DH buried him at the bottom of the garden. The female instantly became more confident and came and sat on us and purred which she had never done before.
This morning (wednesday) she had her breakfast, and we haven't seen her since. We have had a good look up and down the road but can't see any run over cats.It looks as though she has either got stuck in a shed, which is unlikely as all our neighbours work full time, or else she has wandered off.
Do cats wander off when another one dies?

You said she'd become more confident? Maybe she's gone out for a big explore with the change in circumstances.

I'm sorry about your lad.

Any sign of her?

Phew. Sorry to hear about your male cat. I think the remaining cats do grieve, and behave strangely for a while.

It's been a sad week in The Litter Tray this week. Sad

Did she look in the least penitent or did you get the 'What's your problem?' toss of the head?

I'm glad he's back, but so sorry about your girl.
Indeed a sad week.
