Not quite sure what to do

My cat came to me 4 months ago, she had been well treated but due to living within a family where one child had severe SN and as a result had some problems with anger and challenging behaviour, she had been urinating through stress and the family made the decision to rehome.

The urination lessened a lot after being rehomed with myself and DD but she does have the occasional accident, maybe twice or three times a month (down from almost every day in previous home).

I'm now beginning to wonder if there is more to it though. She had a fit the other night. Bet has said epilepsy, she has had I suspect 3 accidents in the time during and since the fit (Sun). Obviously during is the be expected. After though, maybe bladder contractions?

I'm going to book an appointment but wonder if anyone else has had similar things go on with a cat. Also looking for advice on what's best to eliminate cat urine odour. I have had no problem getting rid of it before but now that it's a bit more frequent I feel maybe something more heavy duty might help.

Firstly it's lovely of you to give a 'problem cat' a chance. Pissy cats are the hardest to home of all and frequently have to be put down.

I really don't know the answer to your first questions - your vet is the best one to ask.

As for getting rid of odour though - Simple Solution from Pets at Home works brilliantly. However a much cheaper alternative is white vinegar (I buy it in huge quantities from Amazon for next to nothing). It does make your home smell a bit like a chippy for half an hour or so, but after that all smell of both urine and vinegar is gone.

Thanks, will head for some white vinegar. I spoke to two vets today and something that has been suggested is a hormonal imbalance so it's off to the vet for us although the first available appointment is not until Monday.

She's a lovely wee cat and she'll be sticking with us, wee or no wee although obviously if I can do anything to help stop it I will. It's a shame, she had been doing so well but the fit seems to have triggered an increase in accidents. Hopefully short term but I'll deal with it if it's not.

Got a terrible fright when she had her seizure, a bit of wee is preferable to having her go through that again. I'm just now a concerned the two might be linked and obviously would like to try and get to the root cause of there is one.
