For the first few months we had him, BastardCat would only eat Felix. In jelly, not gravy. Preferably fish.

Then he started refusing to touch the stuff, and went onto Aldi's own. Great, we thought - much cheaper.

This weekend the fussy little fecker is turning his nose up at that. DH suggested buying some Whiskas. I suggested not bothering as he'll eat when he is hungry, and is a tubby bugger.

He is curled up snoring right now, having done a massive flounce when the food went down earlier. Why do they do this? Never had this problem with a dog!

My cat is the same. Just when I think I've found a cat food he likes, he goes off it and looks at in disgust.

Mine are much the same - used to happily scoff felix pouches, this morning I gave them pollack in jelly and one just licked a bit of the jelly and the other wouldn't touch it. If I give them it next week they'll probably have changed their minds back! They're like that with biscuits too - the minute I buy a big bag they start turning their noses up at it, so now I just buy small bags and change it over regularly.

Yep, mine do it too. Hated Royal Canin, so I got them Applaws. Ran out of Applaws, so substituted with a small bag of Canin. Which they now decided is delicious. Now having mini cat tantrums at the Applaws. 7.5 kilo bag of the stuff.

Yep. Cupboard full of Grau and Animonda being eaten very slowly with long-suffering 'pooooor ussss' expressions.

Yep mine has gone off Applaws biscuits, although he loves the tins.

Bought him sardines, which he scoffed last time. He licked the juice off and left the fish this time.

Contrary critters they are.

I ended up pandering to my last beloved cat so much that he was eating steak, lightly pan-fried in butter, king prawns and chicken breast.

I got a rescue cat who came with instructions from her last owner (elderly and had to go to a care home) that she would only eat tuna or chicken breast, she was majorly obese. I gave her high quality biscuits and half a sachet of wet food a day. She's lost a bit of weight, still very over weight, hasn't starved, been with us 5 years now.

They don't starve themselves because they don't like it.

However one of my cats was stolen by an old man down the road. She had no problem eating what was offered when she was here, now he's constantly bringing me spare food round because his stolen cat turned her nose up at it once and he could t possibly see her starve. She's obese now too.

Oh but how do you resist the martyred looks - one of my in particular specialises in them, he runs over and sniffs the biscuits in his bowl then gazes up at me as if to say "but why would you trick me and put biscuit-coloured gravel in my bowl when I'm sooooo hungry?". When he ate them with apparent gusto the day before. Manipulative little fluffball...

Haha, because I have 4 rescue cats and a child with complex needs. They can look at me all they want I'm usually too busy cleaning up someone poo to notice

And I had 4 feral kittens in the mix in summer too, climbed up my chimney and covered my living room in soot they did.

My mum used to open different flavours if the cats didnt like the first offering that night.

It had never been an option for the humans in the house though, we ate what was presented to us.

ASBO cat went off his aldi food but they'd changed the recipe & I can't say I blamed him. It looked vile. The look on his poor face.

Ophie actually scuffs the dish if it isn't to her liking!

Hence why we currently have a months worth of Animonda Carny in the cupboard as I foolishly ordered a big delivery of their favourites.. so they all promptly went off it.

Currently on Gourmet which is costing the earth and giving Obie the runs :/

My 8 month old kitten has been eating happily Felix kitten in jelly since I got her at 6 weeks, then my local shops bastard sainsburys stopped stocking all kitten food. Asda near me also doesn't stock kitten food so I bought her Felix adult she stuck her nose up at me, bought Aldi, Asda, IAMS and fancy pet shop food nope hates it all. So OH traveled 40 minutes to a large supermarket and bought the last box of her beloved Felix kitten little fecker won't eat it! She is eating IAMS dry kitten food grudgingly but misses her wet food, tomorrow I'm buying whiskas in jelly and some gravy based food and if she doesn't eat it that's her problem! She is worse than the kids!

There isn't much choice in the kitten range, for some strange reason.

Claws enjoys fresh chicken but it makes him sick

We call it 'food strike' here.
They see you buy in bulk then snicker and stop eating it.
It's the look they give you -'what is this filth in my dish?'
I love my kitties anyway.

It's funny how they go in with enthusiasm, then gradually slow down.

I never buy bulk food. It's just asking for trouble.

I have found one she will eat Felix as good as it looks. Its not chunky but flakes in jelly. Now do I risk buying a box because at 69p a sachet it will cost me she is on two a day!

That's true Fluffy. With the old hoomans, it's "Get what you're given". Well it was in my day.

Mine get what they're given and eat it or go without, like my kids.

Unsurprisingly, neither of them are fussy.

Shaska that's interesting as I'm having the exact same issues with those foods. Wonder if they have changed the recipes?

SmokingGun Really!? That IS interesting. Both my two were on grau and seemed perfectly happy and then within about a week of each other about a month ago started leaving half their dinner every night.

Now the madcat will often walk away entirely until late in the evening when she realises no other food is appearing.

After reading here I thought I'd try animonda, but had very similar results and I was surprised how like Grau it is in texture/odour, so maybe they come from the same place.

Haven't had any sicking/pooing incidents and neither seem unwell so I was playing hardball, thinking maybe it's just that they're not as hungry with winter sluggishness, though have been casually looking for a replacement. Surprisingly tricky to find a complete, grainfree wet food that doesn't cost more than grau though.

I've shelved the Carny and Grau for now, he literally wouldn't touch it. He is eating lots of Grantapet (from Happy Kitty Co) and Schesir (Zooplus) at the moment. Someone else recommend P@H's Purely brand and I've tried them but the tins are tiny so not very good value for money.

Oh forgot to say, Smillia is pretty good value for money and is the same quality as Grau and Carny although it does have a drier texture?
