What wet food do you use?

So I've been feeding Elsa (our rescue cat who we've had for 3 weeks now) Gourmet Gold and Perle, but according to a pet forum (she's our first ever cat so I thought it would be a good idea to read more about cats) this food is the equivalent of giving her McDonald's every day!

She does like it though.

I give her two pouches a day and her bowl always has Applaws dry food in it too.

I had a look at some of the recommendations on the pet forum and the prices are crazy!
Someone here mentioned Butchers Classic and I would definitely give her this but I'm in Ireland and I can't find anyone who sells it.
Tesco used to but have stopped and none of the pet shops or other supermarkets stock it.

Should I just get over it or will I suck it up and get her the good stuff? The way the pet forums talk about supermarket cat food.....well let's just say that I now feel like I'm killing her slowly

I'd love some recommendations please.

Mine refuses to eat any other brand except Felix kitten not the best but she prefers it to her dry food. She has Iams for kittens for that.

Are you in the North or the Republic? Either way, I think you have access to online suppliers ? (Usually cheaper and often with discounts for first orders at least - and free delivery if you buy sufficient quantity.)

You can get Butchers Classic on Zooplus I think. If not, Animonda Carny is a good and cheap option. Also from Zooplus.

I'm in the republic and am struggling to find an online retailer with reasonable postage costs too.
Zooplus don't do butchers but I'm going to take a look at Animonda Carny now.

You should see bengal cat forums raw feeding section, it's mental. Terrifies me.

Have you tried Tesco Online? They seem to sell Butcher's Classic in the Republic.

Cozi, yes I have tried Tesco online and it either doesn't show up at all or is out of stock (depending on the day)

Ah. I'm guessing you're an existing Tesco online customer (?) and it's reading cookies on your device. Blighters - I get that they have it loud and clear.

I'd ring customer services if it's a freephone number in the Republic and query that one.

It's fine to feed tuna as a treat as long as it's the one in spring water. Tis the one in brine that's bad for them. Cats aren't good with salt.

I feed Grau grainfree, from zooplus. Except they've both gone off it all of a sudden. So I tried Carny, which, it turns out, is very similar to grau and they don't like that either.

Anyone got any brilliant suggestions? They love James Wellbeloved sachets but it makes the madcats bum a bit drippy. They also very much enjoy the cosma/applaws shredded chicken/tuna stuff but a) it's tricky to find complete foods in those ranges and b) it's too expensive.

Is butchers gravyish or more pate-like like carny and grau? I suspect the gravy is the appeal.

Don't worry about the forums - I know exactly what you mean, it's how I ended up getting grau, because I felt so guilty about being unwilling/unable to sort out a complete raw diet from scratch with special supplements and the like.

It's probably the gluten in the gravy that makes MadCat's bum drippy Shaska.

MKitten has decided he now hates Animonda Carny (which he used to gobble with gusto) and now waits until MCat's finished with his Cosma and snarfs that.

Bloody cats. Teach me to buy in bulk...

Ooh, just remembered OP, apparently Aldi do a decent cereal free food.

Also been thinking about ordering the boys some food from here.

Not used it myself, but heard lots of good things about it. I spend too much time thinking about my cats' diets.

Aldis food has gone down a bit.

The jelly luxury pouches, are ok but the gravy one has cereals.

Lidls seem to use cereal a lot in cat food.

My two have one pouch a day each of Felix and the rest is cereal free dry food, wevary between Canagan (which they gorge down) and Encore (ftom supermarkets). It's the jelly in Felix that they love, they wouldn't touch Butchers Classic.

My puss has Gourmet Perle - one sachet a day alongside dry food that's always down. She likes it and more importantly it doesn't make her sick as other wet foods have done. She's perfectly healthy and she's had that food combo for years.

I have had my rescue cat three weeks and have been giving her lily's kitchen. It is sold in two of my local supermarkets and I can also bulk buy from zooplus if I decide to keep her on it. She loves it. I am still trying to decided if I should keep her on this or try some other foods from zooplus.

Untamed cat food. It's 60% pure chicken or fish. Looks and smell really nice. He loves it.
