due to collect our rescue cat tomorrow and had planned to re-use my previous cats bed. its been washed, not used for nearly two years, but will new cat take to it?? it does still have some hairs on it, she was white, new cat is black/brown.

or would she be happier with a new bed and we donate old bed to rescue centre?????

I'm not made of money though!!!

our new kitten sleeps in the old cats bed and has never complained.

I have bought at least 4 cat beds for my idiot rescue cat. Does he sleep in any of them? Of course he doesn't!
I really wouldn't worry the cat might use the bed, it might not.

Do cats use cat beds?

GerundTheBehemoth · 28/01/2015 11:48

I'd keep the old bed and see if she likes it. I've had a succession foster cats and the new ones have often been happy to use beds that previous cats have used. Also offer her a cardboard box with a bit of blanket in it :)

Never had a cat yet that would use anything I'd bought to sleep in. The Siamese have always slept in bed with me and the other cats have chosen somewhere I never thought of.

She'll be fine with the clean old bed - although you could always try a cardboard box with an old fleece or something inside if you're desperate.

Have fun tomorrow.

Our rescue cats peed in any second hand beds but are fans of towels, blankets and cardboard boxes as described above!

Grin well aware of how ridiculous my post sounded!!

it's just old cat loved her bed more than life itself. more than us probably !

PestoCat won't use either of the cat beds we have, so I wouldn't overthink it if I were you. Your new cat may take to the cat bed you currently have! but I wouldn't waste money on buying another one, which in all likelihood won't be used.

PestoCat prefers a blanket at the foot of my bed, if upstairs, or the top of the back of the sofa, if downstairs. Sometimes he will flake out on the landing upstairs just to get in the way Grin

My rescue cat 'owns' three beds a king size double upstairs (my bed), a super expensive bed I bought the dog (tiny cat massive bed dog asleep on floor) and a small basket containing keys and loose change (this is her favourite). There are various proper cat beds around none get used.
