Does your cat watch TV?

Qwebec · 25/01/2015 01:36

My previous cat tried to catch the birds that flew across the screen.

Present cat watches when there are kittens on and when they meow she looks for them behind the TV, and then watches over them from the sofa.

What do yours watch?

Supercasino. Been sickly the last couple of days so falling asleep with TV on. He likes chasing the ball around the swirling roulette wheel.

chockbic · 25/01/2015 12:44

He enjoys football (typical male) and wildlife documentaries especially with big cats in them.

ClaudiaNaughton · 25/01/2015 14:55

Tennis is Claudiecat's bag. I WISH I could upload my photos as she was riveted by Rafa's recent match. Golf is good too when the ball is in play and commentators are offscreen.

He doesn't watch it but he likes the noise when it's on - it seems to soothe him.

MissMuffetisin · 25/01/2015 19:54

Oh yes - a little too avidly at times . Loves wildlife programmes - birds and small animals . Get all twitchy and sits right in front. I'm always worried she'll try and jump in ! I wonder if it's because hi def vision and sound is now so realistic ? She's currently loving winter watch.

ShatnersBassoon · 25/01/2015 19:55

No, she watches DH. Always watching.

StormyBrid · 25/01/2015 19:57

Not usually, but they were both utterly enthralled the other day - programme about pets, narrated by David Tennant, the inept babysitter cat in particular.

singalongsong · 25/01/2015 20:09

cat1 totally ignores the tv.

cat2 was totally obsessed by 'the secret life of cats' documentary. he watched the full show from start to finish every time it was on!

valrhona · 25/01/2015 20:45

Margot rarely deigns to glance at the TV but I caught her having a sneaky look at that pets programme that was on last week featuring Disco the budgie.

Coley likes watching TV. She LOVES David Attenborough programmes and stays with it start to finish. Cracks me up looking at her.

Qwebec · 29/01/2015 04:23

My uncle just told me he would register animal documentaries for his cat and trained her to respond to the animals when they were vocal by using the rewind button and treating her when she cave the appropriate response!

I don't have a cat but I used to have a large house spider who would watch TV. Fred used to appear from the corner of the room, cross the floor on the diagonal towards the door, but stop and turn and face the tv for a few minutes, depending on what was on Grin before he turned and scuttled off towards the door again.

frostyfingers · 29/01/2015 08:41

In the olden days when One Man & His Dog was on the telly our cat used to watch it avidly and pat the sheep as they moved across the screen. It was the only programme he watched and he was hooked!

GemmaTeller · 29/01/2015 08:48

Boycat quite likes to sit on my knee when I'm in my office and watch Felix (from the cat food website) walk about on my PC screen.

Sometime I treat him to kittens on youtube Grin

shaska · 29/01/2015 09:43

They don't watch, they're too dim, but the lamb gets very upset if she can hear a baby crying, and tries quite diligently to get inside the screen.

sparkysparkysparky · 29/01/2015 11:08

My late lamenteds used to watch Formula One. And to try and find the cars behind the telly.

abigamarone · 29/01/2015 11:20

They were glued to some show last night about animals, they got bored and wandered off when it started showing horses though.

Grin at the TV watching house-spider!

There used to be a spider that lived behind my kitchen tiles, I would catch flies for it, chuck them in it's web and make a buzzing noise. then the cate ate it one day

QueenFuri · 31/01/2015 09:09

Mine like snooker and Waybuloo Hmm .

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/01/2015 20:21

Ours likes documentaries, he saw one with the sea in it & was very interested.

It's a bit weird when not only is he watching it but has got comfy like he knows it will go on a while.

I don't watch soaps so I don't know if he likes them too, I think they'd be too many voices and he'd lose interest.

I think flat screens are easier for them to watch. The pictures much better quality. Tv quality was pretty poor years ago & the chinchillas never paid attention past kittenhood.

Chesntoots · 31/01/2015 20:44

Mine never bothered until the new pet programme with David Tennant. He was fascinated!

Like StormyBird's cat, he was particularly fascinated by the rubbish babysitter! (or is that catsitter?)

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/01/2015 20:52

Oh the inept babysitter! Poor mum cat had no idea.
