Right flea advice...gimme all you got

I have a male cat who caught fleas about a fortnight a go. Admittedly it is our own stupid faults as I had forgot to use spot on treatment for awhile.

We tried some frontline on him but it didn't seem to do much so off to the vets we went. The vet treated him with advantage and advised indirect spray. I went to town washing anything that wasn't stuck down, hoovering and using flea comb on cat. After a few days it seemed to be sorted. of the cat and onto the

Seemed sorted until today when I saw a flea leisurely stroll of the cat and onto out bed. Arrrrggghh!! Have once again washed everything upstairs, sprayed, hoovered, steamed cleaned rugs that won't fit in washing machine. Made sure I've got in all nooks and crannies with spray. Have used comb on cat today and found one further flea but lots of what I think are eggs. Will the advantage from two weeks ago kill off those eggs?

I am gonna sort downstairs tonight once kids are in bed. Is there anything else I should be doing? Does this seem reasons or OTT? I'm having trouble with anxiety and I'm not sure if I'm overreacting! He is given working tablets regularly. Boak!!

There is a flea life cycle, so if you have eggs floating around, could be up to six weeks.

Ahhh ok so it might take six weeks for them all to go? Yuck! Thanks, does it sound like they will be gone by then though with everything I've done?

I am tempted to burn the house down or shave the cat at the min but not sure how practical that'd be in the long run

God I know we had eggs in the house and the pest control guy said you just have to wait!

Lots of hoovering in the meantime. Put a flea collar in the vac bag.

Will the advantage that's already on him and the indorex spray kill all the new eggs I think I've seen on him?

Advantage should work, yes, and Indorex is a good one for the house, it works for 6 months, don't spray the cat. I would also do one or two rooms at a time and vacate them for a few hours as the chemicals in those things are not great for people, especially little ones, or pets.

If you can do it, a bit dusty but more healthy look at diatomaceous earth as a house flea killer, you can put it down one room at a time, leave overnight and clean up the next day, then do another room. I suggest one room at a time as you don't want it getting everywhere, and it isn't good with carpets. It is also useful for other infestations like carpet beetles.

I still fondly remember Fleamageddon when we came home from holiday once. I sprayed the house with Indorex and treated the pets with Advocate and it took about 2 weeks for the main problem to go (where we could see them hopping onto us from the carpet). I think the animals kind of acted like a magnet picking up newly hatched ones from the carpet and once on the pet they died due to the flea treatment.
