Worth keeping the cats bed?

Our kitten has been with us for a week now and not once been in her nice cosy bed. I've shown it to her a few times but she instead sleeps on the sofa on top of a fleece blanket or on a lap.
Is she likely to take to the bed at all now or shall I accept she has chosen the sofa instead and make a bit of space by removing the bed??

Nope.

We gave ours to the guinea pigs in the end. There is nothing quite so cute as a fleece basket full of nose to tail guinea pigs.

I've not had a cat yet that would use anything I'd bought in especially.

Do you have a rescue nearby that might be glad of it?

She won't go in it unless it smells of you or her. If you want her to use it, you could try putting a worn item of your clothing in it for a few days so that it smells inviting

I don't mind if she doesn't use it tbh. I only bought it because I thought she would want a bed to sleep in and have somewhere quiet and away from the kids to escape to. But she likes being with them a lot more!!

keep it. the positioning of the bed is key.
on top of something usually does the trick. my cat wouldn't go in hers until i put it high up out the way.
they like to look down on their kingdoms.

We've just got this today which has a bed type bit on it so maybe this will do instead of her actual bed if she decides she wants one??

Cats are contrary creatures. Ignore their bed for months, then decide it's the best thing ever.

Apparently they do love those hammock-ey things you have on your swanky cat-gym.

My bengal sleeps in his bed , it had to be his idea though.

Ours have taken about 4 months to accept their bed, well one of them has. It is an igloo bed, he will only sleep on it if it is squashed flat and realistically it is probably because it is closest thing to the door so he can make a quick exit. The best investments we made were a fleece and cat toys from poundland.

I have decided that cats are like children, you buy them expensive toys which you think are really nice and they spend all their time with the plastic tat in their stockings.

MKitten uses and abuses his bed in a rapey way. MCat's also got in on the action. They rag it around the place then leave it discarded on the floor. They also pull all the fluff off it, which they spread around the lounge.

We got one when we got the cat. It ended up in a car boot sale. He never even looked at it. They find their own cosy, warm spots to sleep. His favourite place in the winter is a spot in the hall-there's some kind of hot water/gas pipe underneath, giving him instant underfloor heating. Over the years the carpet has got threadbare from where he's stretched out and stuck his claws in. Luckily it's an old carpet and I'm not houseproud.

My cat has a roughly 2 week cycle. He finds a spot he likes to sleep (currently my kitchen chair) he'll sleep in it for two weeks then move on to a new spot. his bed gets slept on for around 6 weeks a year so keep old of it for now.

Mine bed-rotate as well; for a while a den in my bedroom is the best spot, then it's a crocheted blanket on the floor, then it's the old cat carrier with a ratty pillow in it, then it'll seemingly be the doormat! Out of knowing a dozen cats from growing up, family and friends, I only know one that ever liked sleeping on a purpose-bought cat doughnut bed. And one of mine has been in the gorgeous "cuddle bag" igloo thing I bought a couple of times - I only wish it was human sized, I'd never leave it...

I used to put my dressing gown in Harry's bed. He now sleeps in it surrounded by his toys.

Margot is a travelling wilbury and does a nightly tour of duty around everyone's bed.
Coley sleeps in the bottom half of a cheapie cat carrier with a few fleeces. Both have regarded with utter disdain the super-nice igloo bed purchased for them. They sometimes nap in the cat hotel (barrel scratcher with tunnels etc).

Mine has 2 beds which sometimes she uses most of the time she doesn't. She prefers the dogs bed and at night I think she sleeps on the sofa. I'd keep it for now it might get used.
