Cat on heat

My cat was neutered 12 months ago but apparently they must have left some ovariab tissue in there because she is definitely on heat today! She has a vets appointment on monday for hormone tests and I think they will probably have to do a second surgery on her poor thing. Meanwhile next doors male cat is round constantly we are keeping her inside so he cant harrass her but she is unsettled etc. Does anyone have any good tips for calming her down etc

I once had a cat who came into season before neutering. The only thing that seemed to calm her down was brushing her, long even strokes down the back. Prior to that, and after, she hated it.

Can you get hold of any Zylkene? It's a sort of kitty valium.

Thanks both of you, yes its much easier keeping her inside as its winter, but no fun for her bless her. Rubbish do you know if I can get dome thing like that from pets at home or would it need to come from a vet?

Yes, like Fluffy says. I got mine from Amazon. It's a milk protein, so not actual drugs even though it has the same calming effect.
