worms after using advocate spot on

Noticed on Saturday that one of my cats had worms.
treated with advocate spot on ( was a couple of weeks late treating Blush ) yesterday we noticed she still has worms.

Rang the vet this morning and I described the worm as like spaghetti and he said the advocate can take a few days to work.
tonight I decided to Google worms and it's looking more likely that the cat is passing tapeworm segments.

I'm going to ring the vet again tomorrow but does anyone know if this means the advocate isn't working?
She has really dense fur like a carpet Grin so I'm worried the liquid isn't getting absorbed into her skin.

Does anyone know if I'll have to retreat my other cat as well even though he's not showing signs of worms.

Advocate doesn't treat tapeworms.

advocate treats some types of worms but not tapeworm.
I'm not even sure it is tapeworm.
The worm was about an inch long, white with a pointed end and a blunt end. It was stretching out then squeezing itself up small but not crawling if that makes sense.
The cat doesn't use a litter box so I can't examine faeces.

Our vet has prescribed advocate for fleas and lungworm but an additional worming tablet for all of the other types of worm, the advocate doesn't treat tapeworm.

As well as Advocate we treat H with Profender (much to his disgust!) to make sure everything is covered.

pink is profender a tablet and can I buy it or is it prescription only?

Profender is a spot on and I use it every 3 months. I'd lose a limb if I tried to get the little sod darling to swallow a tablet! It's prescription only and I pay around £18 for 2 vials which last 6 months.

bought some worming tablets today and have given them. hopefully this will work.
How long do they take to work? it was a one dose tablet for roundworm and tapeworm
Will the cat be covered for 3 months or is it a case of they catch worms and you give them a clear out every 3 months?
I've had cats all my life and can't believe this is the first time I've come up against this Blush
