Cat medicine for Ringworm - advice please

My new rescue cat has been to the vets twice over a skin condition that is undiagnosed, however this morning I noticed a patch of odd skin on DS2's face. The pharmacist said it looks like an early onset of ringworm.

Last time the vet mentioned ringworm she said that the medicine was £80 (hopefully Petplan will cover it) & it was an oral medicine that I had to give the cat for 40 days.

Cat now has a vet's appt for next week but I'm panicking about the treatment. is it really bad? We've only had her for a month :(

Can I put the medicine on a Dreamie, would that work?

Ringworm in cats can be a tricky thing so really you need to talk to your vet.
The treatment is good, but you need to do 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 days on then 7 days after last dose do a culture to check it has resolved.

the vet can do a uv light test for it if it is ringworm its a long treatment and is zoonotic ie: passable to humans but if caught once from a cat humans will be resistant to it forever you cant get it twice, i would suggest get a fungicidal cleaner from somewhere like pets at home and wipe all your hard surfaces with it

The woods lamp test only works for one type of ringworm and sadly we are seeing more and more cats with the type that doesn't fluoresce. So woods lamp gives an indication, but a negative does not rule out ringworm.

The Woods test was inconclusive, there was some green bits but not enough to convince the vet either way.

The internet says my cat may need to be shaved, I need to have the carpets professionally cleaned, I need to clean the entire house every day and change the hoover bag daily and do a total change of the litter box daily. Is this true?

we have had cats and kittens in the centre with ringworm and they have had to be quarentined totally from the other pens with only staff who have had ringworm being allowed in and protective disposable clothing worn so yes it is that virulent but they didnt shave the cats?
