The cat shat on the mat...

Well, the faux fur rug to be precise. What do I do? I've wiped as much as I can off but it's stuck in the hairs.

I've chucked it in the bath for now but what can I wash it with that will do a good job but not damage it?

Will it fit in the washing machine? If so, I's sponge out as much as I could then wash it on a reasonable temp! I have done this several times due to my own 'shat on the mat'-er!

Shampoo? You might want to ask in the Good Housekeeping section as well.

I think biological washing powder is recommended for pet accidents.

I would try and sponge it off first before trying the machine because the one and only faux fur rug i washed in the machine at 30degrees came out looking like a mountain sheep of some kind. All matted and horrible. Had to bin it.
