Just taken my cat to the vet today and he has arthritis Sad

He's had an on off limp for a month or two so I suspected, but yesterday he was in pain so we've taken him in.

He had luxating platellas (roaming knee caps) back when he was fat so it's probably been a product of that.

Unfortunately he has kidney/bladdet problems so vet is debating what anti inflamm/painkiller to put him on. Going to do a urine sample today see how they are currently functioning.

Poor puss Sad

I should say he's 8 or 9 years old. Can't remember!! Blush

Any recommendations for supplements?

Green mussel? I think has been mentioned.

Keep his weight down to ease the pressure on those joints.

Poor lad. Did they give him some pain meds as an interim solution to help his immediate issue?

No they haven't. Their standard injection of Metacam he has had a reaction to before and they're reluctant to try another without his urine sample. He is better today than yesterday (no growling!)

His weight has been fine for about 5 years now. My Dad's dog is on green lipped mussel. Didn't know you could use it for cats too
