cat licking at wound

Our 1 year old cat had an operation 10 days ago to repair an injury to her flank that went into her chest (grim and we don't know how it happened).

Today she went in and had her stitches removed. The vet said she had a temperature and has put her on antibiotics (again, she had already done a week of these after the op). She will not wear the blessed collar, and goes completely mental if we put it on.

Does anyone have any other methods to stop her licking at her wound?

Thankfully she is eating and drinking well and it is mostly healed up, but I really don't want it to get badly infected. It's at night that we can't watch her to make sure she isn't licking at it.

Is it just an occasional dab with a tongue followed by her doing something else or is it fevered licking?

It's an occasional dab rather than very concentrated licking
