Weight loss?

My 4yo boy cat has been gradually loosing weight, the vets are keeping an eye on it but over the last year at each vet trip his weight has decreased.

He is starting to look a bit skinny now but is otherwise fine in himself, eats well and nothing else that concerns me.

We got a new kitten in the summer and that did stress him out a fair bit but they get on very well now.

Anyway anyone have experience of this? Should I be asking the vets to check him out or just watch and wait?

Do you know what weight he is, girlie? And has the vet done any tests eg bloodwork?

Hello thanks for replying, sorry not sure of his exact weights (not helpful) but he was over 4kg - I know that from his advocate dose. The vet said it may just be stress related and I am taking him back beginning of jan for another weight check. I think if he has lost more weight then will ask for blood tests etc.

If you've actually noticed that he's skinny (and you tend not to clock things so quickly when you live with an animal day to day) then I think I'd be tempted to vet him sooner rather than later. It's a fairly long time to January in a cat's life and things tend to go to pieces over the Xmas season in any case - with knock-ons due to backlogs etc, sometimes.

Okay was thinking that myself actually, we ended up having to give him a bath ystd as he managed to get himself covered in something like soot and seeing him wet really showed how thin he is getting
