Went to bed at 2am, both kittens on the landing asleep. Got up at 7.30, to find Ophie pouncing on my guests and Obie no where to be seen. Big panic as thoughthe might have somehow got out when DH left for work at 4am (they go in our high enclosed garden but no further yet)

Found him wedged behind the sofa, trembling:( Just took him to the vet and he has hurt his ankle (or whatever it's called in a cat) so painkillers and back on friday for xray if no better. How on earth can he have done that in the night?

Poor boy is looking very sorry for himself!

The vet did say it was ok for them to be let out properly now.. but I am terrified! I could unblock the hole to next door's garden (Portia used to come and go that way til we got the kittens) . How do I go about it? Just before tea time? In lousy weather? I am pathetically anxious about it as I lost a cat 10 years ago to the school time traffic.

I suspect that cats - or kittens in particular because they have very little common sense - can easily injure themselves inside the house, Medusa. One of those things.

(Wedged behind the sofa and trembling leads me to suspect a stupid jump where he fell awkwardly and gave himself a very bad fright as well as a pain.)

Keep us informed of progress?
